It has been 254 days since Florida football last took the field to play another team. It is only three more days until they take the field again.

In between, every single take anyone could have possibly made has been made.

After a long offseason of talking about hypotheticals, we finally get to discuss concrete things happening on the field.

Florida Football: You talk too much

We here at Hail Florid Hail have highlighted all the absurd takes people have made. After The Athletic predicted a three-win season and the firing of Billy Napier, Roman Harper on the SEC Network said watch this, and tried to top that over the weekend.

At halftime of the Vanderbilt vs. Hawaii game on Saturday, Harper was asked what percentage chance he gave Florida football to upset Utah this Thursday. Keeping in mind that Florida beat Utah straight up last season, Harper declared the Gators had a 3% chance of winning.

Now, it is easy to get in a tizzy and go Tweet/X at the man, but we don’t have to do that because the Gators are going to play for real this Thursday.

We don’t have to keep filling space on this website about our hypothetical confidence for each game because the Gators will play for real this Thursday.

We don’t have to wonder whether or not Graham Mertz is the worst quarterback in the SEC because the Gators are going to play for real this Thursday.

We don’t have to overreact as to whether or not Billy Napier was a “loser” at SEC Media Days because the Gators are going to play for real this Thursday.

We don’t have to fill the void by simulating the season on NCAA 14 while we wait for NCAA 24 to come out because the Gators are going to play for real this Thursday.

Whether you read us throughout the season or opt to read a different website, whether you closely follow recruiting or only check in once the season starts, whether you went to the University of Florida or now, we can all celebrate this week.

Because the Gators are going to play for real this Thursday.
