Florida football: Weather could impact Gators’ travel to Utah
By Will Thomas
UPDATE: Just a day later we have a resolution to the Florida football’s weather issues.
It’s been reported that the Gators will move their travel schedule up a day and leave Gainesville on Tuesday. They’ll spend one night in Dallas before arriving in Utah on Wednesday, as they’d originally planned.
This is pretty much best case scenario for Florida. They’ll be able to stick to their plan of getting in and out of Utah quickly, and the game itself is in no danger at all.

Florida football is just about ready to make their trip out to Salt Lake City for their opening week matchup against the Utah Utes.
But Mother Nature stops for no football game, and there’s a possibility that the Gators’ travel schedule could be interrupted by Tropical Storm Idalia.
Florida is scheduled to fly out on Wednesday from Gainesville, but the storm is currently forecasted to potentially disrupt travel from Tuesday the 29th to Thursday the 31st, the day of the game.
This isn’t the first time that a hurricane has gotten in the way of Florida football games.
Florida football: No need to panic
Now this isn’t meant to be some clickbait piece where I try and tell you that the game is going to be cancelled and Florida won’t play this week. Of course that isn’t going to happen.
While there is no official word from the university about what they plan to do, they are more than aware of the situation and will find a way to get the Gators out there in time to play.
This could be the second straight year that the visiting team in the Florida-Utah matchup has had trouble getting to and from the game.
After last year, the Utes were stuck overnight due to mechanical issues with their plane, and couldn’t get home until the next day.
Now, the Gators are left with some question marks as to how and when they’ll get out west.
There are a couple of possible solutions, the most obvious of which is to fly out earlier than scheduled and avoid the storm.
Billy Napier said that UF’s plan was to get in and out of Utah as quickly as possible to avoid issues with the altitude, but Idalia might change the pace of their trip.
The university will have an answer sooner rather than later with the game coming up in just four days.
