Florida Football Confidence Meter Week 2: McNeese State

  • Last season: Did not play
  • HFH Confidence Meter: 99%

Let’s put it this way, barring a perfect storm of injuries against Utah, which given how Florida’s scrimmages have gone it is possible, there isn’t a meaningful excuse that Billy Napier could conjure up if the Gators lose against the Cowboys.

Even within the world of FCS football, McNeese State isn’t good. They were 4-7 last season and lost to Rice 52-10.

The Rice Owls were 5-8 last season and still beat this team 52-10.

Quite frankly, Florida should be capable of winning this game even if they don’t throw a single pass and just run the ball on every down.

That’s how overmatched on paper this game should be.

But as we learned last year against USF, anything is possible.
