Florida Football Confidence Meter Week 11: LSU

  • Last season: LSU won 45-35
  • HFH Confidence Meter: 40%

In truth, Florida football should have won this game last season. But thanks to Patrick Toney and his paper-thin defense that even Tony the Tiger could solve, it wasn’t meant to be.

Much like Kentucky, LSU has constantly been the one team that just seems to have Florida’s number by the scantest of margins.

Four years ago, it was an epic QB duel between Joe Burrow and Kyle Trask that Burrow barely emerged from victorious.

Three years ago, it was a thrown shoe.

Two years ago, it was the inability to stop the counter run even though it was being spammed like a seven-year-old playing Madden.

Last year is was the inability to get a third-down stop, which at the time gave Florida the distinction of having the worst third-down defense in the country.

LSU is ranked in the top five to open the season, which seems generous considering they too lost to Texas A&M, were humiliated by Tennessee and Georgia, and barely squeaked by Arkansas and Auburn.

But they also beat Alabama, which is worth something, and this game is in Death Valley.

Gators won’t be favored, but don’t count them out just yet.
