Florida football recruiting has a couple of spots left to fill in their 2024 recruiting class and will see one of their targets make a decision later today.

The Gators are looking to add to their impressive defensive class full of blue-chip talent with the addition of top-5 EDGE Jordan Ross.

He’ll announce his commitment today at 8:15 pm ET and will decide between Florida, Tennessee, Texas, and Alabama.

Where do the Gators stand with Ross ahead of his decision?

Florida football recruiting: How bad do they want him?

The Gators don’t have a designated EDGE player committed in 2024 per On3 but have four highly-rated DLs already locked in, including Amaris Williams and Nasir Johnson.

Adding Jordan would be a big boost for a few reasons. First off, he’s a top-40 player in the country and is rated as a 5-star on 247 while being a 4-star on all other services.

Second, Billy Napier has talked a lot about how college football is a talent acquisition business, and he’s shown us that he’s been taking that ideal very seriously. Why not add to your talent haul in 2024 by going after Ross?

But on the other side of the coin, Ross may not be where you need to direct your main efforts. Tennessee has had a good lead for Jordan for a long time, and it would take a lot of manpower to turn him to the Gators which is currently being directed toward LJ McCray, Zay Mincey, and Jameer Grimsley.

On3 gives the Gators the second-best chance to land Ross out of the four teams he’s deciding between. They still haven’t cut UGA’s chances yet. Whatever.

But Jordan has taken five trips to Knoxville and just two to Gainesville. So all signs point toward Tennessee being the destination for him.

He would still be a massive addition to the class, and I still won’t count the Gators out of any recruitment. But don’t hold your breath waiting for his decision this evening.
