Florida football recruiting: Gators not giving up on flipping Jammer Grimsley
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting currently holds 22 commitments in the 2024 cycle, and have their list narrowed down as they look to fill up those final few spots.
While some of those guys remain uncommitted, like LJ McCray and Zay Mincey, they’re going hard after a CB target who’s currently committed elsewhere.
Jameer Grimsely, a 4-star, top-20 corner out of Tampa who’s currently committed to Alabama, is one of the Gators’ highest-priority targets still on their recruiting board.
Corey Raymond and the rest of the Gators are putting the full-court press on Jameer, and won’t give up until he flips to the good guys.
Florida football recruiting: Consistency is key
Flipping an elite player from Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide isn’t something that happens too often, so the Gators know they can’t relent if they want to close on Grimsley.
Jameer told On3 that he hears from Corey Raymond on a daily basis and that he’ll be watching the Gators this fall with a watchful eye.
Talking about Raymond, “He hits me up a lot; he hits me up pretty much every day.” He also brought up both his and his family’s interest in Florida. “I’m going to keep watching. My family is still Florida fans.”
Grimsley committed to Alabama in July, after naming a top three of Florida, Michigan, and the Tide. It’s worth noting that Grimsley put the Gators up on the podium without even taking an official visit, meaning that he already thinks highly of UF.
He would be a massive addition to Florida’s DB class, which right now is just Wardell Mack and Teddy Foster. I also don’t need to tell you all how big it would be to flip a player like Jameer away from Alabama.
We’ve seen Billy Napier and the Gators win battles on the trail like this all cycle. Why can’t he do it again?
