Florida football recruiting is currently in the top three in the country with their 2024 recruiting class and has been landing elite talent left and right from a multitude of states, most notably Texas.

One of the best ways, in my opinion, to grade a recruiting class is by looking at its blue-chip ratio, meaning the ratio of your class that’s 4 or 5-star players.

If you want to keep up with the big dogs on the recruiting trail, you have to have a blue-chip ratio of decently over 70%.

And the Gators are sitting right up with the top of the country in the 2024 class.

Florida football recruiting: Grabbing the best of the best

Florida’s blue-chip ratio so far in this class is 73%. That’s good enough to be fourth in the country, ahead of teams like Alabama, Texas A&M, and Clemson.

The Gators have four guys committed who are rated as 5-star players on at least one recruiting service in Xavier Filsaime, DJ Lagway, Myles Graham, and Jamonta Waller.

While they’re already near the top of the country with their ratio, they still have a couple of elite players that are also blue-chips that are favored to be Gators when they sign.

LJ McCray and Zay Mincey are two of those guys, but Florida is also still in play to flip guys like Jeremiah Smith and Jameer Grimsley.

As the Gators look to get back up to national prominence and rebuild under Billy Napier, recruiting at a high level and landing your fair share of blue-chip players is essential.

Seeing Napier have the success he’s having only in his second year, and coming off of a 6-7 season, is a very encouraging sign for Gator fans.

As the cycle progress, Florida’s blue-chip count will only rise, and help set them up for an even better class in 2025.
