Florida football recruiting made a splash on the recruiting trail yesterday when they secured the commitment of Wardell Mack.

In a little less than a week, they have the chance to make even more noise and get a step closer to the No. 1 class in 2024.

Jordan Ross, a top-40 overall player, and the No. 4 EDGE rusher in his class is set to make his commitment on August 21st.

He’ll be deciding between Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Florida football recruiting: What’s one more?

The Gators have already pulled a couple of surprise commitments on the defensive side of the ball from elite players.

Wardell Mack is one of them, and they locked down Aaron Chiles earlier in the summer. If Billy Napier and the Gators can pull off one more, it would launch this class into a guaranteed top-three finish.

Ross is ranked as the 34th-best player in the country and the fifth-best player coming out of Alabama, and is also ranked as a 5-star on 247 Sports.

We’ve written about Jordan on our site before, and have discussed how his most appealing attribute is his athleticism.

At 6’5”-215, he has the size to be effective on the defensive line, but also the speed and agility to fly around the field and make plays anywhere between the sidelines.

It was surprising to see Georgia left off of Ross’s top four. They’re in second per On3’s RPM but got snubbed as we head into the final stretch.

Tennesse leads for Jordan at 29%, and the Gators are in third (but really second) at 12.6%. These numbers will likely change in a few days and give us a pretty good idea of where Ross’s head is at.

Napier and his staff know the importance of Jordan’s recruitment, and they know what he could do for their 2024 class.

With all that Florida has pulled on the trail so far, I don’t see why we should count them out here.
