Florida football recruiting landed a big-time commitment yesterday in 4-star DB Wardell Mack and got a big boost on the recruiting trail.

But with a few spots left to fill in their 2024 class, the Gators aren’t done trying to reel in talent in the secondary.

There are still a few names left on the Gators’ DB board that Billy Napier and Corey Raymond are going after as the ’24 cycle winds down.

Here are the four guys that Raymond is still going after on the trail.

Florida football recruiting: Still have to close

Zavier Mincey- Mincey is a 4-star safety out of Mainland, Florida, and has long been one of the Gators’ top targets. The Gators have also been the favorite to land him per On3’s RPM for a while, currently with a 66.1% to land him.

There were rumors earlier this week about Miami emerging as a contender, and even a commitment this weekend. But those passed as quickly as they came.

Zay is teammates with another high-level Florida target LJ McCray, who’s also favored to end up a Gator.

I like Florida’s chances a lot as Mincey’s recruitment winds down.

Jameer GrimsleyGrimsley is going to be the hardest guy to secure on this list. Florida made his top three without even hosting him for an OV, but he ended up committing to Alabama.

Jameer is from Tampa, so the Gators have been after him for a while as an in-state target. And Florida still has a decent chance to be a player in his recruitment.

Now, Nick Saban isn’t an easy guy to flip a recruit from, especially a guy ranked in the top 200 like Grimsley is. But Napier and his staff have proven that they don’t back down from anybody, and can just about take what they want.

We’ll see if Grimsley is still interested in what Florida has to offer.

Brayshon WilliamsBrayshon, out of Lakeland, Florida, is a four-star recruit on two sites but ranked as a composite three-star.

He’s 5’10” but only 160 pounds, which is likely why his rankings are a little low. If he can put on some more weight and be a bigger force in the secondary, he can become an impact player.

The Gators have a huge lead for him per On3’s RPM with a 93.5% chance to land him. While Florida has a lead, whether or not he ends up playing for Florida will come down to if Napier wants to take him.

Emiril GantGant, the final guy on our list, is from Lake Mary, Florida, and is ranked as a three-star prospect on On3’s RPM.

He’s ranked in the 1400s nationally and the 154th-best corner in 2024. At 6’0”-170, he has a solid frame and the potential to be a reliable player in college.

The Gators have the lead for Gant over Wisconsin, with a 53.3% chance to land him. It’s a two-man race between the Gators and the Badgers, and like Brayshon, his decision may come down to if the Gators want him as a part of this year’s Florida football recruiting class.
