Florida Football Career Rushing Leader No. 7: Tony Green

  • 1974 to 1977
  • 2,694 career rushing yards
  • 16 career rushing touchdowns

The only player on this list to have played before 1980, Tony Green was a solid four year running back for Florida football.

His best season was his freshman season, when he carried the ball 147 times for 929 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He didn’t quite achieve the same level of success after that, but never fell off a cliff to keep him out of the backfield. Green had a productive senior season campaign in 1977 that ended with him being selected first-team All SEC.

Green would go on to be drafted by Washington in 1978 and spent his rookie season as a kick returner, and was selected to the Pro Bowl that season. He would only last one more season in the NFL and was done after the 1979 season.
