Florida Football Career Rushing Leader No. 1: Errict Rhett

  • 1989 to 1993
  • 4,163 career rushing yards
  • 34 rushing touchdowns

The gold medal on our list goes to the man that took the torch from Emmitt Smith.

He wasn’t quite the caliber of Smith, but Errict Rhett was still a workhorse for Steve Spurrier for four seasons and still an outstanding back in his own right.

His redshirt freshman year of 1990 saw Rhett rack up 845 rushing yards. That would be the lowest output of his career as he followed it up with seasons of 1,109, 903, and 1,289 rushing yards.

Along the way, he found the endzone 34 times on the ground.

Rhett was also a versatile pass catcher and finished his Gator career with 1,230 yards receiving.

He went on to be drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccanneers and played in the NFL for seven seasons before retiring in 2000.

Next. Jack Pyburn is the next man up for the Gators. dark
