Florida football transfers: Teradja Mitchell, LB

Mitchell will be the best transfer at linebacker for the Gators this fall, and a valuable addition to a young and talented core for Florida football.

Teradja brings a veteran presence, as he’s entering his fifth year in college. He was a 4-star recruit in the 2018 class and ranked as a top 50 player in the country, as well as the second-best inside linebacker.

He committed to Ohio State where he was a solid contributor before making the move to Gainesville. His most productive season was in 2021 when he totaled 44 tackles. He didn’t play in 2022 and is looking for a fresh start this year with the Gators.

At 6’2”-244, Mitchell is a strong hitter and imposes his will on offensive players. He’s exactly the type od player that Austin Armstrong wants in the middle of his defense.

As I said Mitchell is an older guy in a room full of young talent, like Shemar Jams, Derek Wingo, and Scooby Williams. He’ll have to play the role that Ventrell Miller did last season, as the leader of the defense from the linebacker position.

Like Cam Jackson, I expect to see Mitchell starting the game against Utah and quickly earn the respect of Florida fans. Teradja’s contributions to the defense this year will go a long way in determining how successful the whole unit is, and if it is able to keep the Gators in some of their games this season.
