Florida football: Which incoming transfers will have the greatest impact?
By Will Thomas
Florida football transfers: Cam Jackson, DT
Next on our list is Cam Jackson, who’s entering his fourth year in college after transferring in from the Memphis Tigers.
At 6’6”-371, Jackson is almost impossible to block one on one and can disrupt the opposing offense with ease.
Last season with the Tigers he totaled 41 tackles and a sack. I expect those numbers to be even better this fall in Austin Armstrong’s scheme.
Cam has looked powerful so far in camp and seems to be even stronger and more explosive than he was in years past.
Jackson was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and was ranked as the 37th-best DT in the 2020 class.
Now he joins a Gators’ defensive line headlined by Princely Umnamielen and Desmond Watson with a chance to be an early contributor.
Looking at the rest of the defensive line room, it seems pretty clear that Jackson will get the start in week one out in Salt Lake City, and will be one of the Gators’ best linemen this year.
The Gators will be relying on Cam to be reliable and consistent with a lot of youth at that position. If he is able to follow through and live up to the excitement around him, he can transform the Gators’ DL into one of the best in the conference.
