Florida football recruiting has one of the best recruiting classes in the 2024 cycle, currently sitting at third in the country and second in the SEC.

The only SEC team ahead of them is Georgia, who took one of their commits, RB Chauncey Bowens, back in June.

But now, the Bulldogs are stacking up their running back room with two backs rated higher than Bowens, making three total.

With UGA’s RB room getting crowded, could the Gators go back for Chauncey?

Florida football recruiting: Fills a position of need

As we’ve said, the Gators’ recruiting class is stacked with talent at many different positions of need. But one spot where they could use another great player is running back.

Kahnen Daniels is the lone running back committed to the Gators, and he’s rated as the 26th-best back in the class.

Many believe that he’s one of the most underrated guys in UF’s class, but why not try to add one more at that spot? Two running backs tends to be the magic number for elite recruiting classes.

UGA has three committed, with Dwight Phillips and Nathaniel Frazier being the two accompanying Bowens. The Gators have just one and are likely looking for one more guy to add there.

Why not go back to a guy who was originally committed to come play for you?

We’ve discussed on our site what Chauncey brings to a program. He’s built like a linebacker, but has elite track speed and can outrun almost anybody on the field.

So if you ask me, Florida should go back and take another crack at Bowens. Sure, it isn’t great that he flipped to your biggest rival. But in this NIL world, there are a thousand reasons to flip.

Call him up and see if he wants to take a visit to The Swamp and get back in touch with the coaching staff. The talent is certainly there, and there’s no doubt that he can elevate this already impressive Gators class.
