Florida football recruiting: Gators offer top-5 TE out of Texas Kiotti Armstrong
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting did a great job of recruiting athletes out of Texas in the 2024 recruiting cycle, and are looking to do the same thing in the 2025 class.
With Texas joining the SEC, getting talent out of the Lone Star State is going to become more and more important.
With that in mind, Billy Napier and the Gators have offered Kiotti Armstrong, a 4-star tight end from Jasper, Texas.
After just his sophomore season, it’s clear that Armstrong has the potential to be a program-changing player.
Florida football recruiting: Size and speed
When you see Kiotti, he doesn’t look like a guy who can run a 4.6. But he has a rare combination of size and speed on the field.
Standing at 6’5”-245, Kiotti is bigger than everybody trying to cover him. It almost looks like he’s playing against a bunch of middle-schoolers.
His athleticism is undeniable, and his ability and instinct when he’s downfield are already high-level. He wills himself into position to make a play and is springy enough to go over the top of a defender and high-point the pass.
Kiotti is a willing, and more than capable blocker as well. Not many defenders are able to stay on their feet when he’s engaged, and Armstrong has the power to clear a giant path for the ball carrier behind him.
As of now, the in-state schools have the advantage for Kiotti. TCU is the heavy favorite on On3’s RPM with a 60.3% chance to land him, followed by Houston, Texas A&M, and Baylor.
Look for the Gators to get pretty involved in his recruitment. Armstrong is the type of player that Napier will want to incorporate into his playbook, and with the Texas pipeline that he’s creating there’s no reason the Gators can’t be a favorite.
Florida is trying to stack their roster with Texas talent. Armstrong can be next.
