Florida football recruiting is scouting out the 2025 cycle, and identifying the players that they want to go after in their pursuit of the No. 1 class in the country.

We’ve seen them dip into Texas for some of their elite players, but Billy Napier also knows how important it is to recruit the state of Florida at an elite level.

One guy out of Florida in the ’25 class is Cortez Mills, a 4-star wide receiver from Homestead, Florida.

The Gators are yet to extend an offer to Mills, but I’d expect that we’ll see the Gators get involved in his recruitment before long.

Florida football recruiting: Go up and get it

Before getting into everything else that Cortez does well, it’s worth noting how good he is at winning jump balls and contested catches.

At 6’1”, he has great length and a good wing span for a wide catch radius. But he’s also very bouncy and has the athleticism and body control to go up and make plays on passes that the defense can’t reach.

He’s a lethal red zone threat, and can also catch deep passes over the middle of the field reliably.

Cortez’s speed is no joke either. He glides around the field effortlessly, changing direction in a blink, and has the burst to separate from a defender once he sees the space.

Mills is rated as the 106th-best player in the country, the 17th-best wideout, and the 21st-best player out of Florida per On3’s Industry Rankings.

Currently, the Miami Hurricanes lead for Cortez per On3’s RPM with a 54/4% chance to land him, followed by FSU with a 16.9% chance.

When the Gators get involved, this could very well become a Big 3 battle for the touted wideout. And not to be disrespectful (I mean this disrespectfully) I like the Gators’ chances head-to-head against both of those schools.
