Florida football recruiting is going back-to-back days hosting priority recruits in both the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes.

Yesterday LJ McCray made a surprise visit to The Swamp, and today Billy Napier will host a top target in the 2025 class.

Michael Fasusi, a 4-star lineman (5-star on ESPN) will be in Gainesville today for his first visit to see Florida.

We wrote a while ago about how important it is that the Gators keep an eye on Fasusi, and now it looks like they’re ready to ramp up recruiting the Texas big man.

Florida football recruiting: Maintain the Texas ties

The Gators have done an outstanding job recruiting Texas talent in the 2024 class with guys like DJ Lagway and Xavier Filsaime. They’re looking to keep that momentum rolling into the ’25 class as well.

Fasusi, out of Lewisville, Texas, is rated as one of the best players in the country. On3’s Industry Rankings have him as the 28th-best player in the nation, the 5th-best OT in 2025, and the 5th-best player coming out of Texas.

As of right now, local schools like Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Texas fill out the top three for Fasusi early on in his recruitment. But there are a lot of reasons to like the Gators’ chances.

In the ’24 cycle, as we’ve talked about, the Gators did a great job of recruiting the state of Texas and taking some of its top players.

Now, with that connection already created, what’s stopping them from doing it even better in the 2025 class? Texas offensive linemen will see DJ Lagway quarterbacking the Gators and want to come to play with him.

With Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC, recruiting in that area is going to become even more important and valuable. So far, Billy Napier and the Gators are proving that they can do it.
