We are on record here at Hail Florida Hail that when evaluating a prospect that Florida football is in pursuit of we value their film above other metrics that seem to get overvalued by recruiting services.

So while Matty Augustine may not have the size yet required to earn a four-star rating, his film is a site to behold and a reason why Billy Napier offered the 2025 prospect yesterday.

Florida Football: Film is king

Augustine is a class of 2025 prospect that plays right tackle for the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT. He is considered a three-star prospect by On3, Rivals, and 247, but is considered a four-star by the 247 Composite.

Listed at 6’5″ and 265 pounds, Augustine has the height needed to play tackle in the SEC and, in time, can add the weight needed to be an SEC starter.

When we look at film and need to make a snapshot reaction as to what makes a four-star prospect and what makes a three-star prospect, it comes down to whether or not said player is clearly the best player on the field.

In Augustine’s case, there is no question of whether or not he is the best on the field.

While he plays a little bit high with his posture and is going against whatever level of resistance the state of Connecticut has to offer, Augustine is doing what a four-star level prospect would do and pancake opponents on almost every clip.

You can view his 2022 film here.

Other schools are taking notice, as Augustine dropped a boatload of schools on Twitter yesterday that offered him. Beyond the Florida Gators, he has offers from Alabama, Miami, Tennesee, Michigan, and Notre Dame.

Keep the following in mind as well, offensive linemen tend to take a bit longer to develop. So for Augustine to already look like a monster on film is why the recruiting wars for him are only going to continue to heat up.
