Florida football recruiting: Bryce Davis taking a liking to the Gators
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting is doing a good job of planting its roots in the “core four” states on the recruiting trail, which Billy Napier defined as Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.
One guy out of North Carolina that the Gators are after is one of the best defenders in the class of 2025, who recently made a trip to Gainesville.
Bryce Davis, a 4-star EDGE out of Greensboro, North Carolina, is in the top ten at his position and is starting to gain some interest in the Gators.
Florida made some serious progress on Davis during his visit and is now among his top five.
Florida football recruiting: Top-tier defender
Bryce is highly rated across all four major services and ranked as high as 24th in the country on 247. On3’s Industry Ranking has Davis as the 53rd-best player in 2025, the 8th-best EDGE, and the third-best player coming out of North Carolina.
Davis stands at 6’4”-230, which is pretty good size for a guy entering his junior year of high school. He uses that size to dominate any blocker taking him on one on one and does a great job of penetrating the backfield.
He also moves very well for a guy his size and is able to make himself skinny and shoot through the offensive line, as well as chase down QBs in the backfield.
In his sophomore season, he totaled 92 tackles, 22 of which were for a loss, 12 sacks, two PBU, two fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles. He also blocked three kicks.
Right now the ACC is at the top for Bryce. Duke is the favorite per On3’s RPM at 36%, with UNC in second at 16.1% and Clemson in third at 13.8%.
But the Gators are right up there after his visit this weekend. He told Corey Bender, “I went into Florida with high hopes and they met my expectations.”
With how well UF has recruited defenders in 2024, there’s a good chance we see the Gators near the top for Davis, and in the race all the way to the end.
