Florida football has a history of putting top talent into the NFL, which has become a big part of their recruiting pitch. Their top draft pick this season, Anthony Richardson, just officially signed his first contract, and that man got paid.
AR signed a 4-year deal with $33.99 million which includes a $21.72 million signing bonus, all of which is paid upfront.
That’s generational money for a generational talent.
Is Anthony Richardson worth the investment?
If you ask me, the answer is yes. Looking at his highlights, the way he plays, and his limitless ceiling, there’s no way you can tell me that he isn’t worth taking a chance on.
For a franchise that is in rebuilding mode like the Colts, and doesn’t have a staple QB to go along with Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr. on the offense, putting this money into AR is a good move.
Obviously, we won’t know for sure the return on their investment until we get to see Richardson as the No. 1 guy in Indy, and until we see how he’s improved on some of the weaknesses he had during his time at Florida.
So for now, we can just focus on Gator Nation’s QB 1 getting paid.
He may have had some downtimes last season, and the team as a whole struggled. We all know that. But there’s just no denying the superstar that Richardson is.
It was a treat to get to watch him be a Gator for the three years that he was on campus, and it will be just as fun to watch what he’s able to do in the NFL.
Every Gator fan should have an iPad or a phone tuned in to Indy’s games this season because you never know when this guy is going to do something flat-out incredible.
