Florida football is undefeated against these ACC teams
Florida-ACC matchups make much more sense geographically, and they have a larger sample size against most ACC teams compared to other conferences. We know that the Gators play FSU every season, and have had a good amount of run-ins with other teams in the conference, including a 9-3-1 record against Clemson. Here are the ACC teams the Gators have never lost to.
Virginia – The Gators and the Cavaliers have played twice, one of which was very recent. Their first matchup was way back in 1959 in Gainesville, and Florida handled business, winning 55-10. Most recently they played in the 2019 Orange Bowl, where the Gators won a pretty competitive game 36-28.
Virginia Tech – The Gators and the Hokies haven’t played in almost 40 years, but the Gators still have a 2-0 record against them. In 1934 the Gators went into Blacksburg and walked away with a 20-13 win. I’m not sure Enter Sandman was around for that one. Over 50 years later in 1985, they played again in Gainesville where the Gators won by a score of 35-18.
Pittsburgh – Here, I give you the most boring part of the whole list. The Gators and Panthers have played once, back in 1977 in The Swamp. That game ended in a 17-17 tie. That’s it. The 0-0-1 record the Gators have gives them the undefeated badge against Pitt, and oddly enough, gives them the same badge against us.
Wake Forest – Florida and Wake have played four times, in three consecutive years from 1923-1925, and then again in 1957. In ’23, the Gators won 16-7, and came back in ’24 with another win, this time dominating 34-0. In ’25 in front of their home crowd, they made it three straight wins with a 24-3 performance. Over 30 years later the Demon Deacons came back to Gainesville just to get shut out and lose 27-0.
