Florida football is undefeated against these PAC 12 teams
Given the geographical issues, it’s not a surprise that Florida football doesn’t face off with too many teams in the PAC 12. But when they have, they’ve won their fair share of games, and have done it against traditionally good teams out west.
Oregon – Please, join me in my time machine as we go back to 1929, almost 100 years ago, when Florida and Oregon played. The Gators beat the Ducks 20-6 in December of that season, and haven’t had to defend their undefeated record against them since.
California – Turning now to Cal, they’ve played the Gators much more recently than Oregon has. In their first matchup in 1974 in Gainesville, Florida took down the Bears 21-17. Six years later in 1980, the Gators did it again by beating Cal 41-13, a much more comfortable win than their first game.
USC – The Gators are 1-0-1 against the Trojans in a home-and-home that took place in 1982 and 1983. In ’82 in The Swamp, Florida handled business and took USC down 17-9. A year later out west, neither team could separate themselves, and the game ended in a 19-19 tie.
Utah – We may have just over a month to boast this, so let’s make the most of it. The Gators are 2-0 against the Utes, with their first matchup being played back in 1977, where UF won 38-29 in front of their home crowd. And most recently, the Gators took Utah down in last year’s season opener by a score of 29-26.
