Florida football recruiting is putting together one of the top classes in the country in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Among all of their impressive players, two position groups stand out to me as we continue along the process.

The first is linebacker, where the Gators have amassed five of the top ten LBs in the country. The second of which is wideout, which got a big bump last night with the commitment of Tawaski Abrams.

And looking at the three receivers that Billy Napier has committed, there is some stupid good speed making its way to The Swamp.

Florida football recruiting: Turn on the jets

The Gators recruited some elite speed in the 2023 class with Andy Jean, Aidan Mizell, and Eugene Wilson. Well, they’re right back at it with the pass catchers they have in the 2024 class.

The three wideouts currently committed to the Gators are Jerrae Hawkins, Tawaski Abrams, and Izaiah Wilson.

And I’m not just saying this for fun: They’re all certified burners.

First looking at Hawkins, he has a PR of 10.37 in the 100m and 21.48 in the 200m. He was also the final leg of a 40.11-second effort in a 4×100 relay.

Then looking at their newest commit, Tawaski Abrams, he has eight sub-11-second efforts in the 100m, including a PR of 10.62 and a 21.53 in the 200m.

Finally, we see Izaiah Williams, who has a laser-timed 40-yard dash of 4.46 seconds and a 10.94 100m.

Some of the best teams in the country have one or two guys that can take the top off the defense and beat everybody in a foot race. The Gators are assembling a receiving core where every guy can do that.

Watching DJ Lagway throw to all of these guys is going to be really fun in a couple of years. That Fun ‘n’ Gun offense is making its way back to The Swamp.
