Florida football has never beaten: Oregon State Beavers (0-1)

This one is pretty fresh. Just about every Gator fan can make the trip back to last December in Las Vegas when the Gators got blown out by Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

This game was just one of those where nothing went right. Jack Miller II started at QB with Anthony Richardson sitting out for the draft and didn’t have a great debut. He was 13/22 for 180 yards with no scores and no INTs.

Oregon State bullied Florida on the ground. Deshaun Fenwick ran for 107 yards on 21 carries, setting the tone for the entire game.

The Gators rushed for a total of 39 yards. Total. 33 carries split between Etienne, Johnson, Miller II, and Pearsall, for just 39 yards.

That was the exact opposite of the Gators’ all season, but that’s just the kind of game that it was back in December.

Would Florida football beat them today?

This one has a pretty clear-cut answer. No.

In the last game that either team played, the Gators needed a last-second field goal to avoid a shutout and cut the lead down to 27.

So even though I think the team is heading upward, they still aren’t in a spot where you can confidently take them over Oregon State. They literally just got blown out.

As Napier continues to turn the program around, I expect we won’t need to worry about middle of the pack Pac-12 teams for long.

It isn’t a great feeling.
