Florida football has a rich history on the football field, full of wins and legendary players. But with those wins, also come a couple of losses.

There are a few teams that the Gators have met head-to-head, but have never been able to beat.

While the list is relatively short, it’s still interesting to look at some of the schools that the Gators have never gotten the better of.

So without wasting any more of your time, here are the teams that the Florida Gators have played, but never beaten.

Florida football has never beaten: Pittsburgh Panthers (0-0-1)

The beginning of our list isn’t the most entertaining, but still, a team that the Gators haven’t won against. In one game against the Panthers, the Gators tied with them, 17-17.

That game was played back in October of 1977, with a Florida team that had nine future NFL players on it, including guys like Chris Collinsworth, Derrick Gaffney, and Scott Hutchinson.

My first thought when I went to the archives and saw this game was that I’m just so happy they got rid of ties in college football. I can’t imagine when the fall rolls around watching the Gators play for 60 minutes and then just have nothing happen.

Would Florida football beat them today?

This one is a good question. While Pitt, ever since Kenny Pickett moved on, doesn’t really jump off the page, neither do the Gators.

This game would be very situational right now. In The Swamp, I take the Gators in a heartbeat. We saw Utah come in last year and really struggle with the temperature and humidity, which would also really hurt Pitt.

If they played them up north, it could be a little different. But these two teams would probably have a pretty tight matchup if they played today.
