Florida football recruiting, as we all know at this point, has done an exceptional job of recruiting the 2024 recruiting class.

They currently sit at third in the country on both On3 and 247 and are still in play, and leading, for some elite players in the ’24 cycle.

Billy Napier and his staff deserve all the respect and excitement that come with bringing in a group of players as talented as they have.

What’s so amazing about the Gators’ 2024 class, is that even with about eight months left in the cycle, it’s already better than UF’s 2023 class.

Florida football recruiting: Steadily improving

When Billy Napier took over the Gators, he stressed to fans that college football is a “talent acquisition business”, and acknowledged that he wouldn’t just come in and turn the program around in a year.

To this point, he’s following through on those words.

The 2024 class has four guys committed right now who are ranked as a 5-star on at least one service. Those guys are DJ Lagway, Xavier Filsaime, Myles Graham, and Jaomta Waller.

The 2023 class only had one guy who has a 5-star on any site, and that was Eugene Wilson.

When you look at the class score on both On3 and 247, you also see the differences. Florida’s 2023 class had a score of 91.58 on On3, and the 2024 class is already at 92.50.

On 247, Florida’s 2023 haul had a score of 271.43, while the 2024 cycle is already up to 273.20.

So what’s the point of all this? The point is that Napier is already establishing his vision and culture at UF, and recruits are buying into it.

They know that Florida isn’t going to win a whole lot of games this season, but that’s not why they’re committed.

They want to come play for Napier and be the class that brings Florida back to the top. So if you want to make fun of UF for winning 6-7 games this year, go ahead.

But don’t get too comfortable.
