Florida football: Gators have one of the biggest OLs in the country
By Will Thomas
Florida football may not be the best-looking team on paper, and they won’t have one of the most explosive offenses in college football.
But what they do have are two elite running backs in Trevor Etienne and Montrell Johnson Jr. Helping out their cause, however, is a beastly offensive line.
The Gators are losing All-American O’Cyrus Torrence this fall, but still have plenty of capable, and large, bodies along the offensive line.
With the way that Billy Napier has constructed the trenches, the Gators are going to have one of the most physically imposing lines in the country.
Florida football: Group of giants
Florida is going to field a combination of guys that have been on their roster for a few years and some big-time transfers that Napier was able to bring in over the offseason.
These guys are going to look good coming off of the bus. They might not even fit on the bus.
Here’s the type of size that we’re talking about. This list was on SEC Mike’s Twitter page (@MichaelWBratton).
Kingsley Eguakun – 6’3”-301
Austin Barber – 6’6”-311
Kamryn Waites – 6’8”-362
Jordan Herman – 6’8”-372
Kiyaunta Goodwin – 6’8”-353
Damieon George – 6’6”-369
Micah Mazzccua – 6’5”-329
That’s three guys that are at least 6’8”, which is a pretty solid mark for a basketball team. Four of those dudes are also over 350 pounds, which is some serious weight to try and move for a defensive lineman.
The Gators are sticking to finding massive humans to block for them as well. Fletcher Westphal, their newest commit in the 2024 class, is 6’7”-330ish (weight is being disputed around Twitter as we speak).
Noel Portnjagin is also 300 + pounds at 6’5”, and Mike Williams is 310-6’5”. Keep in mind that these guys are still high schoolers.
Assembling guys as big as these is a great way to form a dominant offensive line, and fits into the Gators run heavy scheme.
Florida is going to be moving bodies this year, plain and simple. Let’s bring major physicality and domination back to The Swamp.
