Florida football recruiting has done great work so far in its 2024 recruiting class, currently sitting at No. 3 in the country.

With football in its offseason, there isn’t a lot of opportunity for any recruits to increase or decrease their rating on the recruiting services.

And yet, On3 felt that most of Florida’s current commits didn’t deserve the rankings that they had.

So they dropped several of Florida’s top commits by a substantial amount on their site’s rankings. But why?

Florida football recruiting: At least it wasn’t everybody

A lot of Gator commits were dropped, but at least one of their top guys did get a boost. Myles Graham received a 43-spot bump up to the 147th-best player in the country on On3.

But a bunch of other guys weren’t so lucky. Here are all the guys who got dropped for seemingly no reason. All rankings are On3’s own overall rankings.

DJ Lagway – Down 26 spots to No. 46

Xavier Filsaime – Down nine to No. 57

Adarius Hayes – Down 11 to No. 118

Amir Jackson – Down 13 to No. 136

Aaron Chiles – Down one to No. 216

Fletcher Westphal – Down eight to No. 266

Izaiah Williams – Down 42 to No. 276

Kahnen Daniels – Down 3 to No. 280

Throughout the recruiting process, shifts up and down in the national rankings are pretty normal. But not when there’s literally nothing going on,

What did the guys at On3 see from all of these Florida guys during the offseason that made them worse prospects?

Was it the video of Lagway hitting 20 mph on an incline treadmill? Had no idea that made football players worse.

Now here’s the bottom line. Even though it’s frustrating that these guys aren’t getting the respect they deserve, they’re still the same players.

They’re still the guys that Napier evaluated, went after, and landed.

And they’re still the players that are going to help bring the Gators back to the top.
