Florida football recruiting may be just a few days away from adding another priority defensive target to their impressive list of 2024 commits.

This weekend, Jalyn Crawford will be announcing his college decision.

He’ll announce it on Saturday, July 15th, at 3:30 pm ET.

Jalyn will decide between Florida, Auburn, and LSU, and the Gators are going to be working hard over the next five days to make sure that it’s UF’s hat that he puts on.

Florida football recruiting: Get the ball rolling

It sounds surprising, but the Gators don’t have a corner currently committed in the 2024 class. They’ve landed plenty of defenders and two safeties, but no true corners.

Crawford would be a pretty good guy to break the ice with.

On3’s Industry Ranking has him as the 193rd-best player in the country, the 22nd-best corner in the 2024 class, and the 26th-best player coming out of Georgia.

We wrote about it a little bit ago, but the Gators are just about all in on securing Crawford’s commitment. Gators’ DB coach Corey Raymond has been in daily contact with Jalyn, making it clear that he is a priority for UF.

That kind of persistence is what it takes to land elite players on the trail. And hopefully, it works.

The Gators have a lot of ground to make up according to On3’s RPM. Auburn is the heavy favorite right now for Jalyn with a 71% chance to land his commitment.

In second is LSU at 22.9%, and in third are the Gators with just a 1.2% chance.

Florida isn’t out of it by any means. They hosted Jalyn for an official visit the weekend of July 2nd and had him on campus in April as well.

Corey Raymond’s reputation, as well as the positive momentum that the Gators have on the trail, make me feel like Florida is in a good spot with almost anybody, including Crawford.

We’ll see if the Gators can close on him in a few days.
