As Anthony Richardson proved last season, it doesn’t matter if Florida football has a winning record or not when it comes to getting drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft.

And there is one player for the Gators who may not be a household name around the country but has still caught the attention of those covering the NFL that might be a first-round pick come 2024 of next year.

Florida Football: Marshall Law

Even fans of Florida football might be surprised by this, but Jason Marshall has the attention of NFL scouts.

According to Jordan Reid of ESPN, Marshall is seen as a potential first-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Now you might be asking yourself, “Wait a second, the guy with two career interceptions is a future first-round pick?”

As Reid notes:

"“However, he lacks ball production (only two career interceptions), and scouts want to see him make a bigger impact on passes in the air next season.”"

But it is also worth noting the upside to Marshall and the lack of faith that Patrick Toney gave him last season,

As part of Toney’s defensive scheme, Marshall was frequently asked to line up off the line of scrimmage and had little opportunity to showcase what he was capable of. With Austin Armstrong in charge of the defense now, Marshall is going to be given the opportunity to sink or swim for better or for worse.

It is to this point that Reid notes:

"“Marshall’s length causes issues for opponents in man coverage.”"

Marshall didn’t get to be in man coverage under Toney. He will get his chance under Armstrong.

And if Marshall can flash the ability to hold up in man-to-man coverage in the SEC, NFL scouts are going to fall in love with him and could make him the next first-round draft pick out of Florida.
