Florida football recruiting went on an offer spree yesterday, offering a trio of the best running backs in the 2025 class.

The best of the three that they extended an offer to is Jordan Davison, out of Santa Ana, California, and Mater Dei.

Davison is a composite top-five running back in the country, and top ten player coming out of California.

But will the Gators make the trip out west to try and land him?

Florida football recruiting: Bad taste in our mouths

It’s safe to say that the Gators haven’t had a lot of good luck when it comes to recruiting players out of California.

I don’t need to remind you all of the Jaden Rashada mess that we went through a few months ago, and we all remember the mess of Chris Steele when he decided to transfer.

So Napier and his staff may be a little more hesitant to go all out to try and bring Jordon across the country to be a Gator.

Don’t get me wrong, Davison is an elite player, and having a guy of his caliber would be a huge boost to the team. He’s a wrecking ball when he puts his head down and has enough breakaway speed to keep his distance when he’s in the open field.

But to bring Jordon all the way to Gainesville would take a lot of work. USC and Texas are currently the two teams at the top of his recruitment, with a 48.2% and 40.2% chance to land him respectively per On3.

So is all the effort needed to overthrow both of those schools worth it? My opinion is no.

There are plenty of other elite RBs in 2025 that are much closer to home that the Gators will go after, and will hopefully cause fewer problems than those Cali kids.
