Florida football recruiting has secured a couple of splash commitments in the 2024 cycle, most notably guys like DJ Lagway, Zavier Filsaime, and Jamonta Waller.

Through all of that excitement, Billy Napier and his staff haven’t let up and are still on the hunt for some of the best players in the country.

They have another chance to make some serious noise on the trail with 5-star EDGE Jordan Ross.

Ross has teased that he may be near a commitment, leaving Gator fans anxiously waiting to hear his decision.

Florida football recruiting: Stacking the defensive side of the ball

Florida’s 2024 defensive haul is already elite. Adding a player like Ross to it would elevate it to another level.

On3’s Industry Ranking has Jordan ranked as the 27th-best player in the country, the third-best edge rusher, and the third-best player coming out of Alabama.

247 Sports is the lone service that has him as a 5-star, but there’s nobody out there who’s denying what he will bring to the college of his choice.

Now I don’t want to lead any fans on here and make it seem like the Gators are a lock to land Ross’ commitment. In fact, they’re underdogs as of right now.

Of his top three schools (Florida, Tennessee, Georgia,) the Gators sit in third. The Vols are the current leader, per On3’s RPM, and the Bulldogs are in second.

The Gators are a little behind those two schools, and I’m not sure something will magically change unless Ross takes another visit to Gainesville.

He did make an OV to The Swamp on June 2nd, which was his second time on campus. And in today’s world of recruiting, things can happen quickly under the radar.

Jordan would be an exceptional addition to the Gators’ class and would be by far Florida’s highest-ranked DL commit.

But Napier and his staff will need to work some magic if his commitment, which could apparently come at any time, is to them.
