Florida football recruiting: Gators make top five for elite 2025 EDGE

Florida football recruiting is still making good progress with some of their top targets in the class of 2025 while the ’24 cycle is still in the spotlight.

One of their priority targets on the defensive end included the Gators in his top five schools yesterday.

Jakaleb Faulk, out of Highland Home, Alabama, narrowed his list last night with Florida making the cut.

The other schools in his top five were Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, and Alabama.

Florida football recruiting: Versatility on both sides of the ball

Faulk is ranked very highly as an edge rusher across all four major services. On3’s Industry Ranking has him as the 150th-best player in the country, the 12th-best edge rusher, and the 11th-best player coming out of Alabama.

While he doesn’t necessarily come at ball carriers with the viciousness and power of some other prospects, he seems to be very well-rounded.

He’s got great instincts and stays home to contain the outside edge very well, and much better than lots of players in his class.

But don’t take this to mean that ball carriers don’t feel it when he hits them. He’s involved in his fair share of forced fumbles, and offensive players have to know where he is at all times.

His versatility can be seen on the other side of the ball, where he gets reps at wideout for Highland Home as well.

Faulk’s natural athleticism helps him run good routes and find open space, as well as go up and make a play on the ball.

Auburn is the current leader for Jakaleb, and the Tigers have the advantage of Jakaleb’s brother, Keldric, currently being on the team.

Clemson sits in second place with the Gators rounding it out in third. Jakaleb has made three trips to Gainesville, and the Gators figure to get an OV in the future.
