Florida football recruiting: DJ Pickett – S

Here we have what I think will be one of the Gators’ highest-priority guys when it comes to in-state recruiting in 2025, DJ Pickett.

Pickett, a 5-star safety out of Zephyrhills, Florida, is one of the highest-rated prospects in the country.

On3’s Industry Ranking says he’s the 8th-best player in the country, the best safety in 2025, and the second-best player out of Florida. (We’ll get to the top FL player in a minute)

DJ, at 6’2”-170, is able to use his height and length very well in the secondary, ranging to balls that a lot of guys can’t get to. He reads the quarterbacks’ eyes very well, and shadows routes to the point where they have nowhere to go downfield.

He has great closing speed as well, reacting quickly to the ball being thrown and beating the receiver to the catch point with ease.

Pickett also gets reps at wide receiver with his speed and quickness, displaying once again that he’s just faster and flat-out better than the other guys on the field.

Pickett has made his way to The Swamp five times already, and the Gators figure to be in a good spot to eventually get an official visit from him.

DJ’s is another recruitment that will be hotly contested and one that Napier knows he has to win if he wants the Gators to be back on top of college football.
