Florida football recruiting: Gators need to keep an eye on Michael Fasusi
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting, while they’re still focused heavily on the 2024 cycle, they have some sets of eyes looking forward to the 2025 class, and scouting out some of the best players that could become Gators.
One position that you can never have enough of in college football is along the offensive line. Depth and talent are incredibly important when you look at your units in the trenches.
The Gators have a chance to add both with one of the best offensive tackles in the 2025 class.
Florida must keep their eye on Michael Fasusi.
Florida football recruiting: Moving bodies against their will
Fasusi has the quality that college coaches love to see in offensive linemen: they’re just flat-out stronger than the guy that they’re blocking.
On Michael’s film, all you see over and over is him bullying guys across the field and creating gaping holes for his running back to shoot through.
Standing at 6’4”-287, it’s no wonder he has the ability to move guys against their will. Another thing that makes Fasusi such a good prospect is that he doesn’t sacrifice a ton of mobility for his size and strength.
No, he doesn’t move like a running back, but he has the willingness and ability to get to the second level of a defense, oftentimes because he’s driving the guy he’s blocking 15 yards downfield.
Fasusi is very highly thought of throughout the recruiting industry. He’s a consensus top ten OT and top-100 player, with On3’s Industry Rankings having him as the 47th-best player in the country, the 8th-best OT, and the 7th-best player coming out of Texas.
To this point, the favorite to land Michael is Oklahoma, followed by Texas A&M, Texas, and Baylor. But as the Gators continue to recruit him, and hopefully get him on campus for a visit, we may see Florida come into the picture.
