With the announcement that Florida football is going to upgrade The Swamp with $400 million in renovations, there is cause for fans of other programs to take notice. And for the most part, it is easy to ignore those random people on Twitter with 20 followers when they take shots at the Florida Gators.

Yet sometimes, part of the magic of Twitter are the people who have over 20,000 followers, are worth billions of dollars (allegedly), and still feel the need to tweet like someone with 20 followers.

Monday night was no different as, once again, Miami mega booster John Ruiz inserted himself into another dumb Twitter argument surrounding the Florida Gators.

Florida Football: Those that live in a glass house…

If you are unfamiliar with John Ruiz, he is a lawyer and the CEO of LifeWallet. With a net worth that is reported at $1.5 billion, he has attempted to turn the University of Miami into his own personal Madden Ultimate Team and buy everyone in college football with NIL money.

It isn’t working, by the way, as the Hurricanes have only the 17th-ranked recruiting class for 2024 right now, one spot ahead of noted recruiting juggernaut Minnesota.

But it doesn’t stop Ruiz from trying to portray a false message of strength as he takes every opportunity he gets to say dumb things on Twitter and get into arguments with opposing fans on the bird app.

On Monday night, a fan tagged Ruiz in connection to a story that the Florida Gators are investing $400 million into The Swamp.

Ruiz took the chance to point out that the new Miami Hurricanes stadium will cost more than $400 million, to which a Gator fan pointed out that there is a massive difference between renovating and building from scratch.

Enter Ruiz with a dandy of a Tweet:

Ah yes, the school that became the first NCAA program to be hit with a violation due to their NIL practices is lecturing others on how to handle their NIL practices.

And yes, the Jaden Rashada saga was ugly. But the allegation that Florida football defaulted its payment is comical for two reasons:

  1. One of the major issues with Rashada’s NIL deal wasn’t the dollar amount, it was that it was sloppily written and would have violated Florida law.
  2. LifeWallet, the whole funding source for Miami, was recently found in noncompliance by Nasdaq.

Florida has taken steps to clean up its NIL system and has its eyes firmly facing forward.

Miami is busy arguing with people with 389 followers. Which to be fair, it might seem like a lot of people for Miami.

Do you Miami.

Do you.
