Florida football recruiting is dialed into the 2024 class and trying to finalize one of the best classes in the country, but are still keeping their eyes on the 2025 class.

One of the guys in ’25 that they have a lot of attention on is Gavin Nix, a 4-star linebacker at IMG.

The good news for the Gators is that all of the recruiting they’re doing is working, and Nix finds the idea of becoming a Gator in a year very appealing.

Florida just may be the team to beat out in Nix’s recruitment.

Florida football recruiting: Visit after visit after visit

As a member of the 2025 class, Gavin has plenty of time to set up visits and doesn’t need to rush anything. Despite there being no need for urgency, Nix has made visits to Gainesville seven times already, including three this year.

The next closest school to that seven-visit mark is FSU with four, and then Miami has hosted him three times.

After his most recent visit on June 20th, he told On3, “My recent visit to Florida was amazing.” Short and sweet.

Gavin is ranked as the 217th-best player in the country, the 22nd-best LB in the 2025 class, and the 30th-best player coming out of Florida according to On3’s Industry Rankings.

Two services have him ranked as a top-five LB in the class, ESPN and Rivals.

Looking at On3’s RPM, the Gators are currently a solid favorite over the rest of the field, which for now is just other Florida schools.

The Gators currently have a 44.5% chance of landing Nix, with FSU following at 22.5%, Miami in third at 14.6%, and UCF in fourth at 4.3%.

This has all the makings of a big three showdown to land Gavin when the 2025 cycle kicks into full gear.

When you factor in the early lead the Gators have, plus all of their recruiting momentum, it’s going to be hard for the other Florida schools to catch up to and pass the Gators.
