Florida football recruiting: Gators make top three for 4-star corner
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting just keeps on impressing more and more of the top players in the 2024 class, and they’re in the final stages for another top-tier in-state recruit.
The Gators earned a spot in the final three schools for 4-star DB Jameer Grimsley today.
The two other schools on the list are Michigan and Alabama.
Billy Napier and his staff are looking to close on their in-state prospect.
Florida football recruiting: Decision coming soon
After cutting his list down to three on Thursday, Jameer isn’t going to take too long to narrow that list down to just one.
He’ll be announcing his commitment this weekend on Saturday, July 1st. That’s the same day that Justin Denson is announcing his commitment, another Gators’ target in the secondary.
Grimsley would be a big win for Napier and his staff. For one, they’d be landing a great player who will join an already stacked defensive class.
Jameer is ranked as a top-200 overall player and the 22nd-best corner in the 2024 class, according to On3’s Industry Rankings.
Second, it would be a big win over the other schools that were after him. FSU was going after Grimsley hard and had the lead on On3’s RPM for a long time, but they didn’t even make the top three.
With that list narrowed down, the Gators still have to outdo Michigan and Alabama, which isn’t a very easy pair to beat out on the trail.
One thing that the Gators have going for them versus the other two contenders is that they’re Grimsley’s in-state school, and have already hosted him for two unofficial visits in April and June of this year.
The Gators weren’t one of the five teams to get an OV from Grimsley, but the fact that they’re still on his top-three list is a good sign for the Gators.
Hopefully, Saturday will be a great day.
