When it comes to recruiting, it is always exciting when someone announces that they are committed to playing for Florida football. But as Gator fans have learned, there is committing to a team, and then there is being locked into a team. Florida has seen its fair share of prospects commit, only to flip to another school later on.

So while hosting their annual Friday Night Lights event, the Gators got some good news as one of their commit that has been at the center of flip rumors announced he is for sure coming to Gainesville in 2024.

Florida Football: Lock it in

Adarius Hayes is a four-star linebacker out of Largo. He is considered one of the top ten linebackers in the country by all four major recruiting services and is top 100 overall in three of the four (looking at you On3).

Despite committing to the Gators back on January 28, rumors were starting to pick up that Hayes was looking to flip.

He took an unofficial visit to Miami last weekend, sparking rumors of a flip. In fact, some Miami insiders were so convinced he was going to flip they started including him in their mock prospects list.

Hayes took to Twitter last night to let Florida football fans know he isnโ€™t flipping.

The announcement continues a string of good news for the Gators, who have done a complete 180 since last Saturday afternoon when Austin Simmons flipped. Since then, the Gators have secured the commitment of seven prospects, including five-star linebacker Jamota Waller (or a three-star if you are looking at On3).

Fellow highly touted four-star linebacker Myles Graham, also a top ten for his position nationally, also announced that he is shutting down his recruitment and is 100% locked in with the Gators, though no rumors were swirling of a flip from him.
