Florida football recruiting hosted their annual Friday Night Lights event yesterday, which is always one of their biggest and most successful (fingers crossed) recruiting weekends of the year.

It will be hard to top the seven commitments in one weekend that the Gators reeled in a few weeks ago, but you never know what fireworks may go off.

But this article isn’t going to be about which recruits were in attendance, which ones camped well, and which may be leaning toward the Gators.

This one is going to be about how Billy Napier brought back a handful of notable alumni to be in attendance this weekend and what that means to the program.

Florida football recruiting: Old faces back in town

Napier brought some old faces back to Gainesville to be a part of this weekend. The guys he brought back were Brandon Spikes, Kaiir Elam, Anthony Richardson, O’Cyrus Torrence, Duke Dawson, Gervon Dexter, and Zachary Carter.

Obviously, some of these guys played for Napier and are used to the current program. Adding a Gator legend like Brandon Spikes also brings back a sense of the prestige that the team used to have.

Plus, Spikes is a guy that was in his prime both with the Gators and in the pros when the recruits at this camp were growing up, so bringing him back can have a positive effect on the guys visiting.

Having a strong base of past Gator players that come back to town and show support for the program is also a positive sign of where the team is going.

Guys coming back to help Napier recruit show that they believe in what he’s building, which in turn will make the recruits believe in it.

If bringing guys back to campus for FNL can make that weekend even bigger than it usually is, this could become a major holiday for Florida fans.
