Florida football passing leaders – No. 4: Tim Tebow, 9,285 yards

And now for a guy that needs no introduction.

If someone were to ask you “Who were the best Florida quarterbacks of all time?”, Tim Tebow is probably the first name that you think of.

Tebow, one of the three Heisman winners to come through The Swamp, was on two of the Gators’ national championship teams in 2006 and 2008 but was the leader of the team for the ladder title against Oklahoma.

In addition to his Heisman in ’07, he also won the AP Player of the Year and the Davey O’Brien Award. He brought home some more hardware in 2008, winning the Manning Award, Maxwell Award, and the title of SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

He holds the SEC record for rushing touchdowns in a career with 57 and is also the all-time leader in total touchdowns responsible for in the conference with 145.

Like we’ve seen with a few other Florida QBs, Tebow’s NFL career never really panned out. He was drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos where he played for two years and had an 8-6 record as a starter.

That time in Denver included a thrilling OT playoff win over the Steelers when “Tebowing” was everywhere you looked.

He then spent some time with the Jets under center and made a few stops elsewhere as a tight end before wrapping his career up.

Tim will always be remembered as one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time.
