Florida football passing leaders – No. 1: Chris Leak, 11,213

We’ve finally made it to the end of our list, where we have our all-time Florida football passing champion, Chris Leak.

Now Leak didn’t make his way to the top of this leaderboard by throwing for 4,000 yards in a season or leading the country in passing yards multiple times.

He did it by playing four full years where he never slumped and stayed the same, great quarterback.

Chris’ lowest year of passing yards was his freshman season in 2003, where he threw for 2,435 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

His sophomore season in ’04 was the best of his career. He led the SEC in completions (238), passing yards (3,197), passing touchdowns (29), total yards (3,276), yards per play (7.10), and touchdowns responsible for (31).

And we all remember Leak leading the team to a National Championship victory over Ohio State.

Like all these other Gator greats, Leak just couldn’t find his spot in the NFL. He went undrafted and was signed by the Chicago Bears, where he was an apprentice to former Gator Rex Grossman.

He only played in the preseason and was later cut, and then pursued playing time in the AAFL, CFL, and AFL.

Even if he doesn’t have an NFL career, he still sits atop the Florida Gators in the history books and has his National Championship to show off.
