We have reached the end of the road in Omaha, and Florida baseball is just two wins away from winning its second-ever national title. Standing in its way are the LSU Tigers, the team the Florida Gators knocked off in 2017 to win its first national title.

With betting odds out and as tight as ever, how should one approach the championship series if betting is your thing?

Florida Baseball: May the odds forever be in your favor

Most betting sites have Florida and LSU as even money. On Bet MGM, both squads are listed at -110 to win the national title (for the uninitiated, bet $110 to profit $100).

Given the star power both teams possess, it is easy to see why having a favorite is a difficult call. We know all of Florida’s stars by now, with Wyatt Langford, Jac Caglianone, and Josh Rivera leading the charge for the Gators.

LSU is headed up by Dylan Crews (the potential first pick in the MLB Draft), Tommy White (who hit the walk-off home run that beat Wake Forest to get to the finals), and Tre Morgan (who saved the game for LSU in the 8th inning with his defensive work).

But beyond just having faith in the Gators, there is one massive factor that should make Florida favored in this series. After throwing eight innings against Wake Forest, Paul Skenes probably doesn’t throw more than a couple of innings out of the bullpen if there is a winner-take-all-game three.

The rotation for LSU behind Skenes is questionable.

Florida, meanwhile, will have all of its starters ready to go, and it is to that point that with Brandon Sproat taking the mound for the Gators in game one, Draft Kings has the Gators as a -120 favorite for game one.

So if you trust Brandon Sproat to get it done and from there think Florida can pull off one of two games against LSU, then taking the Gators to win the series at -110 is a worthwhile gamble, though far from guaranteed.
