Florida football recruiting is coming off of one of its greatest recruiting weekends in history, and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Less than 24 hours removed from landing the commitment of 5-star Jamonta Waller, the Gators are hosting a 4-star prospect on campus today from Tampa.

And given how well Billy Napier has been picking up commitments, you never know what could happen tonight.

Today, the Gators are receiving an unofficial visit from Jameer Grimsley, per On3.

Florida football recruiting: Deep hole to climb out of

The Gators, without sugarcoating it, are a good ways down the list for Grimsley at the moment. FSU currently leads for Jameer on On3’s RPM, with not a ton of distance between the Noles, Alabama, and Penn State.

Grimsley has all of his official visits locked in, and the Gators did not make the final cut to get an OV. Those went to FSU, Bama, PSU, North Carolina, and Michigan.

The Gators did recently make his top eight that Jameer released a few weeks ago, so they aren’t totally off his mind.

But it seems like it would take a pretty spectacular visit today for the Gators to make up any meaningful ground.

As we wrote about after he released his finalists, Jameer is a very talented two-way player for Tampa Catholic, as well as an accomplished track runner.

He’s logged a 10.84 in the 100m, a 21.79 in the 200m, and a 51.12 in the 400m.

When you watch his film it’s hard to ignore his natural talent to go get the ball in the air on both offense and defense.

As a wideout, it’s like he’s never truly covered, and as a corner, his assignment is never truly open.

For right now it’s hard to see a path for Napier and the Gators to turn Grimsely’s head and get him to end up with the Gators, but at this point, I know better than to count out this staff.
