Florida football, as we’ve written about a whole lot, has been on an absolute tear on the recruiting trail over the past weekend.

They saved the best for last as they added their highest-rated commitment of the past 72 hours last night in Jamonta Waller, a 5-star LB out of Picayune, Mississippi.

Let’s see if Lane Kiffin is still listening to Tom Petty this week.

But the bigger story for the Gators is that Waller rounds out what may be the best linebacker class in the country in the ’24 cycle. But even with how talented Waller is, he isn’t even the highest-rated LB committed to the Gators.

Florida football: Going shopping through the top ten

The Gators have four linebackers committed in their class right now. Every single one is rated in the top ten at their position, and three of the four are top-100 players overall.

Starting from the bottom, which isn’t really a bad thing here, we have Aaron Chiles, who committed to the Gators on that wild Saturday night.

He’s rated as the 108th-best player in the 2024 class, and the 9th-best linebacker in the country. His commitment was a bit of a surprise over the weekend, as many thought that Michigan would hold on to the lead they had had throughout his recruitment.

But Billy Napier doesn’t care who’s favored. He’s taking who he wants.

Next, as we head up the list is Jamonta Waller, the newest Gator commit. He’s rated as the 61st-best player in the country and the 7th-best linebacker.

This commitment felt especially sweet for Napier and Gator fans, taking Waller from Lane Kiffin who had long thought he had Jamonta locked up. Kiffin took Austin Simmons, we take Jamonta. Game on.

Next up is Adarius Hayes out of Largo, Florida, who’s rated as the 54th-best player in the nation and the 5th-best LB in the class.

Hayes committed to the Gators back in January, has been very solid, and has helped the Gators reel in even more talent.

Being in the top five of any position is pretty darn tough to do, so you know that the Gators are getting a heck of a player in Hayes.

And finally, sitting on top of Florida football’s LBs is Myles Graham, who has been committed since August of last year.

Graham is occupying the spot just ahead of Hayes, ranked as the 53rd-best player in the country and the 4th-best linebacker.

Myles took to Twitter a little bit ago and told Gator fans to get ready because an avalanche was coming. And I’m not sure he could have been more right.

Gators add two more commits on Monday. light. Related Story
