When Austin Simmons flipped from Florida football to Ole Miss, resident troll Lane Kiffin had a bit of fun at the Gators’ expense. And to be fair, it felt like a big flip for the Rebels, and all is fair in love and war in the SEC.

But as they say on TV, life comes at you fast, and in the span of just 58 hours, Billy Napier has related Kiffin back to the kiddie pool.

Florida Football: Doo doo, doo doo doo doo doo

When Simmons flipped, Kiffin took to Twitter and indicated he was all of a sudden in a Tom Petty mood, tweeting out a screenshot of a bunch of Tom Petty songs. He also retweeted an article that had a bunch of Florida fans panicking on various message boards.

Now I myself watch a lot of pro wrestling, and Kiffin has all the mannerisms of a classic heel. But Kiffin is more like Roddy Piper, who never actually won the WWF title and only won the Intercontinental title once, than he is a heel like Triple H or, in the modern-day, MJF that have had their reigns of terror.

And in wrestling, once you as a fan figure out a heel is never actually going to win, you no longer fear them as a heel.

That’s what happened to Kane and Bray Wyatt.

And that’s what Billy Napier just relegated Kiffin to.

With the commitment of Jamonta Waller, capping off a string of commitments over the last two days, the Florida Gators now possess the second-ranked 2024 class in the nation.

Ole Miss sits down at 22nd.

What’s amazing is that somehow in the span of 58 hours, Napier went from “Sunbelt Billy” and was deemed as a guy who just can’t recruit to now there being something nefarious happening in Gainesville.

So while Kiffin may have had his moment, we are constantly reminded that his arms are just too short to box with God.

The Florida Gators play Ole Miss in 2024 in The Swamp.

We hope Baby Shark has his popcorn ready.
