Florida football recruiting can seemingly do no wrong all of a sudden after their third weekend of official visits in June.

They landed six commitments over the weekend, made the top eight schools for 5-star WR Cam Coleman, and now are in the top five for an elite OLB.

Jaylen Harvey, a four-star defender out of Potomac, Maryland, named his top five schools, and the Gators made the cut.

The other schools on the list were Penn State, Maryland, USC, and Tennessee.

Florida football recruiting: Keep chipping and chipping away

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Gators really weren’t in the discussion when it came to Harvey’s recruitment.

But after his official visit the weekend of June 9th, the Gators climbed up “very, very high” on his list, he told On3.

Making his top five is proof that he wasn’t just saying that for the media, and that Billy Napier and his staff really did make a good impression on the top-25 EDGE.

Harvey has either taken an OV or has one scheduled to three of the other schools in his top five (Penn State, Maryland, USC) with Tennessee figuring to get the fifth.

Some good news for the Gators here is that they have a recent history of snagging elite defenders from Maryland.

They secured the commitment of Aaron Chiles on Saturday, who many thought the Gators were a longshot to land.

But Billy Napier and this staff aren’t out of anybody’s recruitment it seems.

Jaylen has a commitment date scheduled for July 4th, so we won’t have to wait much longer to find out his decision.

If the Gators can pull off another surprise commitment from a defender as talented as Harvey, Florida recruiting will really be all the way back.
