Florida football: Elite Gator target reclassifies, teammate of Austin Simmons
By Will Thomas
Florida football has had a chaotic last twelve hours or so. News broke from On3 yesterday that 2025 commit Austin Simmons would be reclassifying to the 2023 cycle, but now those claims are being disputed by his family.
While we try to sort through all of that, we know a lot more about one of his teammates and his current situation.
Late last night, one of Austin’s teammates, and a high-priority Gators’ target, reclassified from 2025 to 2024.
Hardley Gilmore, one of the top wideouts in his class, has moved up his recruiting timeline.
Florida football: Give me more Gilmore
We already broke down Hardley’s tape and what he could bring to the Gators a few weeks ago when we were all picturing him and Austin Simmons coming to campus together in the 2025 class.
Now we have no clue what’s going on with Simmons, and Gilmore has bumped himself up a year.
The Gators have been leading for Gilmore pretty much the whole way thus far. On3’s RPM gives the Gators a 92.1% chance to land him as of right now, with Kentucky and Georgia occupying the second and third spots respectively.
Gilmore is still working on setting up all of his official visits. He has an OV scheduled to Kentucky for this weekend and is yet to schedule one anywhere else.
He has already made two trips to Gainesville however, with his most recent being May 18th.
I love where the Gators are at right now with Hardley, and think that it will take a lot to beat UF for his signature.
Assuming that Florida gets everything in order with Austin Simmons, these two will be a dynamic duo for Billy Napier and the Gators.
They’ve already built up plenty of chemistry together, and we know how talented they both are on the field.
