Florida Football: Five worst quarterbacks in Gators history
Florida Football Worst QBs: Tom Shannon
- 1962 to 1964
- 1,766 career passing yards
- 55.9% career completion percentage
- Seven touchdowns and 23 interceptions
The career completion percentage for Tom Shannon isn’t that bad, especially when you factor in the era he played in. He actually had a better percentage than Anthony Richardson and Jesse Palmer.
The problem is that it took Tom Shannon 290 career passing attempts to amass 1,766 passing yards. At 6.1 yards per attempt for his career, that is the lowest of any QB in Florida history.
Not helping matters was his staggering 23 interceptions with just seven touchdowns to counterbalance it.
Florida actually went 6-3-1 during the 1963 campaign with Shannon as the starter but was shut out in all three losses that season.
