Florida Football Worst QBs: David Bowden

  • 1972 to 1973
  • 2,192 career passing yards
  • 49.7% career completion percentage
  • 19 touchdowns and 20 interceptions

The 1970s weren’t a great time for Florida QBs. The man who replaced David Bowden, Don Gaffney, had a career completion percentage of 43%. But at least he had a touchdown to interception ratio of 19 to 14, and his average yards per attempt were not the worst despite the terrible completion percentage.

David Bowden however, had a negative touchdown to interception ratio while also laying claim to the third-worst completion percentage of the 29 QBs we have examined for this list.

Combined with his career yards per passing attempt of 6.4 yards, the third worst of any Gator QB we looked at, and it’s hard to point out many positives of Bowden’s time under center.

The icing on the cake is that he finished his career with -335 rushing yards, also the third-worst of any Gator QB.
